Fergus McNicol and Ronnie Fairweather are the duo ‘Macastory’ who perform a mixture of stories ,poems and songs on a bewildering array of subjects. Macastory provide an interactive experience of storytelling, raps, songs and larger than life characters to engage and excite pupils (and adults!) of all ages. We enthuse and inspired young learners through the wonder of live storytelling developing a love of stories and in turn language. Our storytelling sessions go further than that though. They are a great springboard into delivering the four capacities of a Curriculum For Excellence.
We provide follow up cross-curricular ideas and workshops to take the enjoyment, enthusiasm and energy from the storytelling back into the classroom to help teachers do just that.
The Storytelling is presented in a entertaining and theatrical style, and can address issues such as Citizenship, Bullying , Sectarianism, Health and the Environment . Macastory cover subjects in history ranging from the the Vikings to the Greeks, Scots and beyond. As well visiting schools and libraries all over Scotland Macastory have perfomed many times at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Aberdeen Storytelling Festival,The East Renfrewshire Festival and Traquair Fair.
